Rice Krispie Birds' Nests
I am such a sucker for thematic crafts, books and recipes, so as soon as we got a little taste of Spring, I decided it was time to pull out a Spring-y snack I’ve been wanting to try.
These rice krispie birds’ nests could not be easier to make and they are so, so cute for Spring and/or Easter.
Let me know how yours turned out and if you did anything different to make them unique!
Rice Krispie Birds’ Nests
3 tbsp butter
6 cups marshmallows
6 cups rice krispies
1 cup shredded coconut
1 spoonful of icing
Green food coloring
2 muffin tins
Melt 3 tbsp butter in a pan.
Add 6 cups of mini marshmallows over low heat.
Remove from heat and add 6 cups of rice krispies.
Grab a small handful of mixture and place into muffin tins. You may want to butter the muffin tins so that the treats come out more easily.
Press down in the center of the mixture with a spoon to create the nest.
Separately, combine shredded coconut with green food coloring and a dollop of icing (this will make the coconut stick better to the nest).
Top with your favorite egg-shaped treats! I used Hershey’s chocolate eggs for these - I love the pretty pastel colors!
