Noam's 15 Month Update

What a whirlwind of a month it's been! It hardly seems like a full one has passed since I last wrote an update on Noam, but it most certainly has - and it's been incredibly busy!

Basic Stats

We went for Noam's well visit today and learned he's 24lb 3oz (50th percentile) and 32" tall (75-90th percentile), so he's definitely slimming out a bit as he grows! He's got 8 teeth (4 on top and 4 on bottom) and his eyes have darkened to be fully brown (I think?) now. He's walking and talking and climbing all day every day and is a non-stop ball of energy.

Noam nurses on-demand and through the night, and he's been eating more and more solids, too. He absolutely loves fruit like blueberries, grapes and watermelon and dairy like yogurt and cheese. He prefers to graze all day instead of eat larger meals and he would rather eat the bigger pieces off of my plate than the smaller ones I so painstakingly cut and prepare for him.

Noam's sleep hasn't changed much this month. He still naps once a day and it ranges anywhere from 1 hour to 2.5 hours long (we've even had a unicorn 3 hour nap!) and he wakes several times a night to nurse. He's got an incredible amount of energy and is one of the happiest babies I've ever seen, so it must be working for him!

Activity & Development

So much changes every day with Noam, it's tough to keep track sometimes! I should be more diligent about documenting everything he does, but it's hard to keep up! He's walking and sometimes running all over the place, he says a ton of words and seems to be learning and understanding more and more every single day. Just yesterday, I asked him if I could put on his shoes and he went over, picked up his shoes, brought them to me, sat down and lifted up his foot for me to put a shoe on - I was amazed!

He loves to 'read' books, push buttons, cuddle, be tickled and tickle us as he says 'ticka ticka.' He says 'buh' when he wants to be picked up and 'ki' when he kicks his ball. Most large mammals are still 'dahs' (dogs) to him and most birds are 'duh' (duck) though he also loves to say 'bih' (bird) when he sees them flying around.

He gives kisses on demand and rubs his nose against ours and is so incredibly affectionate and loving that my heart nearly bursts on an hourly basis.

One thing they don't tell you is that the 'terrible twos' they talk so much about really starts well before the second birthday (like, around the first birthday). I wouldn't say he's terrible at all, but the acknowledgement that he wants something or doesn't have something and the disproportionately sad reaction following that acknowledgement has really developed lately. Noam gets very upset when something he wants is taken away from him or if I leave the room, for example.

I don't even know what to say here. Noam is just the happiest, sweetest, most kind baby I've ever known. He loves to play and laugh and he loves to be chased and snuggled. He's incredibly empathetic and curious and has an unrelenting need to discover new things. He regularly tries to push buttons or take things apart or plug things in, and he's always learning and soaking in the world around him. He loves strangers (especially when they smile at him) but is often reserved before opening up when he's in a new space. And he's got an infinite amount of energy that is kind of exhausting but also incredibly exhilarating.
